California Law
California is proposing a new law that would prohibit residents from owning pitbulls. They are also proposing to eliminate all breeds or breed types of pitbull terriers. Please comment if you desire.

Breed Specific legislation I think doesn’t stop the problem with aggressive dogs or aggressive natured dogs. Certain states ban the ownership of specific breeds of dogs, mainly the Staffordshire terrier, Staffordshire pit bull terrier, the American pit bull terrier and other dogs of that nature. Mainly I think the problem lies in the hands of the owner of these dogs. If precautions were taken to socialize and behavior train the animals then I think we would have no problems with aggressive dogs….unless they were trained to be aggressive. Just like in any society there are PEOPLE that don’t always abide by laws and are pleased by turning dogs into aggressive dogs for purposes of pleasure or money. That is the reason for a unsafe behavior of aggressive dogs. We need to address the individuals of this behavior rather than banning dogs that have been in our lives for over 500 years.

Does Oregon have any breed specific legislation?
Does anyone know if Oregon has any type of breed specific legislation which does not allow them to own certain breeds of dogs. I just bought a pitbull and I want to know what the restrictions are. Thanks.
